My name is Vivien,

I was born in Lancashire.

As a young child, my parents were very strict and would not allow me to play outside the family garden and I felt isolated, but I was never alone as I had my 'friends' that visited me to play and have a chat.

It was only when I started school that I realised other children did not have the same ability to ‘talk to friends’ whenever they wanted to. I learnt to keep quiet and eventually my 'friends' disappeared. When I was older it was as though I had dreamt that period of my life.

When I was in my early twenties and having a good social life, staying with my friend and her parents, my ‘friends’ decided it was time to wake up the gift that had been dormant.

I was writing a letter to a friend when I realised the words that was running in my mind was being dictated to me by a different voice. At the same time, I could smell tobacco and felt queasiness in the stomach area.

On mentioning this to my friend’s mother I was promptly informed that the symptoms were of her late father and I was displaying a mediumistic gift and I needed to attend a Spiritualist church.

My answer was a bit negative as I had never heard of a medium except as the size of a persons clothes!

Nevertheless the following Sunday I attended Nelson Spiritualist Church who held weekly services in a small room over a sweet shop. That was the start of my journey…………..

Let me acknowledge over the next few years I was helped by various like minded people who was here on earth serving the spiritual realms in there own way.

The first one was Annie (affectionately known as Petal) who suffered from Parkinson's disease but still retained a wonderful sense of humour and Mrs Joan Adams MSNU (Minister of the Spiritualist National Union). Both of these wonderful people cared enough to iron out my pathway and make it smoother by giving the guidance I needed to train the gifts I have.

Personal advice is still received from Mrs Joan Adams MSNU and my other 'friend' Annie. My mother pops in every now and then, usually to give advice or tell me off, see, nothing has changed.

I feel honoured that the late Gordon Higginson who for many years was a wonderful medium and President of the Spiritualist National Union, took an interest in my development.

All Mediums have various bands of guides who come to help them with their work, changing over at opportune times in accordance with their development. Usually one guide will be a doorkeeper and in charge of you and your gift, other guides will step forward to assist a Spiritualist Healer.
