You will be aware of the growing number of complementary and holistic treatments that run alongside conventional medicine. Although perhaps one of the oldest forms of healing known to man, Reiki is a relative newcomer to western treatment rooms and because of this, qualified therapists are quite sought after.

Reiki is a Japanese word meaning 'Universal Life Energy'. Reiki therapy works by channeling the body's own natural life energy and ability to heal itself. It can release blocked energy, cleansing the body of toxins and working to create a state of balance. It reinforces the patients built-in healing ability. Reiki is especially helpful in treating stress, menstrual; problems, cystitus, migraine, asthma, psoriasis, eczema, arthritus and many more of the ailments of modern living. It will also compliment and increase the effectiveness of most kinds of medication and treatment.

The Treatment

Reiki is very simple, non intrusive and whilst it is an extremely powerful process it is at the same time very relaxing. A treatment session lasts for up to one hour. It is done with the patient lying down, fully clothed on a massage table. The Reiki practitioner gently places their hands in various positions over tne whole body. Each position is held for several minutes. There is no pressure.

With Reiki the whole body is treated not just the area being worked upon. Reiki knows what a person requires and will adapt itself to create the effect that is appropriate for the person being treated. It will go straight to the source of the imbalance and not just to the manifesting symptoms.

How does Reiki work?

Reiki permeates to the 'hidden' levels of a persons being, where many illnesses have their origin. It works wherever the recipient needs it most.

In its long history it has aided in healing virtually every known physical illness and injury. It also works on the psyche, reinforcing the patient's ability to take responsibility for their life, and assists them to make changes in attitude and lifestyle thereby creating a state of balance which in turn promotes a happier and healthier life.

What will you experience?

As the Reiki energy begins to flow and the recipient comes into balance, stress and tension are released and there is a deep sense of relaxation and a feeling of well being.

You may feel a pleasant sensation of warmth or may even fall asleep. After a treatment the recipient will feel relaxed, calm or even radiant.
